Ube Matcha: our new coffee speciality
The latest trend from South-East Asia is now on our menu. Two layers in a single glass, a 100% natural colour. Ube is still a rare sight at Dutch events. That’s precisely why the combination with purple catches the eye at the bar.

New on the menu
Why Ube?
- 100% natural colour The purple colour comes from the tuber itself. It’s not a colouring agent from a bottle.
- Perfect with matcha Purple and green in a single glass, and those layers remain distinct right down to the last sip.
- Also known as Ube Latte With a shot of espresso, Ube works exactly the same way. Your coffee drinkers can still enjoy it too.
- Made to be photographed The barista finishes off the top layer with latte art. That’s when the mobile phones start appearing.

A tuber from South-East Asia, no colouring
Ube is a purple tuber from South-East Asia. There, it has been used in cakes, ice cream and drinks for generations. Here, that flavour has only just started to catch on: at Dutch events, Ube is still a rare sight. So there’s a good chance your guests have never tried it before.
Our barista builds it up in layers, and they stay in place. Purple against green, or purple against coffee brown, in a tall glass. We finish off the top layer with latte art. That’s when the phones start coming out.
Ube goes well with any coffee or matchabar
A matcha event?
Ube Matcha. Purple against green, whisked on the spot with a bamboo whisk.
A coffee event?
Ube Latte. Purple under a shot of espresso, topped with latte art.
Summer event?
Iced Ube Matcha or Latte. Both served over ice, in a tall glass so the layers are visible.
Winter event?
Served warm. Indoors and in autumn, the layers in the glass remain just as clearly visible.
Business event?
Everyone’s wondering where that purple drink comes from. They’ll come and find you at your stand all by themselves.
Just because you can?
Fair enough. You don’t need a reason to enjoy a glass of purple wine.
Made live in front of your guests
Ube isn’t limited to matcha. It works just as well with a shot of espresso, and then it’s called an Ube Latte. That’s handy, as your guests have different tastes. The coffee drinkers who don’t fancy matcha can still join in.
Our barista whips up every matcha drink right there in front of you. You can really taste the difference: it’s creamy rather than grainy. You can choose your own milk – coconut, oat or cow’s milk – and everything is alcohol-free.
Would you like to feature your brand? If so, we’ll transform the bar to match your corporate identity, provide cups with your logo, and the coffee printer will print your logo or a QR code onto the milk foam.
