A Moroccan dream wedding with a champagne tower and cocktails

I’m going to take you through an evening/night in the life of a bartender at Bar Company. No two events are ever the same, and on Friday 2 March, we had another special celebration on the agenda: a Moroccan wedding. We provided a champagne tower and a cocktail bar.

The party venue

The wedding took place at Het Paleis in Schiedam. This venue is renowned for its fantastic facilities for organising special weddings. For this reason, Het Paleis is already fully booked for the whole of 2018. Several Rolls-Royce Phantoms were on display in the venue’s car park that evening.

Champagne Tower

The bride and groom have our very best champagne tower hired along with a number of impressive champagne ladies. In addition, the bride and groom hired two mobile cocktail bars and five experienced cocktail shakers. After more than five years with the company, I was still taken aback by the venue, the atmosphere and the scale of the wedding. There were over 450 guests in attendance, all enjoying a four-course dinner. Each table had its own butler, meaning there were just under 150 staff on hand to provide the guests with everything they needed. We were tasked with ensuring that, by 10.30 pm, over 450 glasses of champagne were ready and waiting. The bride and groom were keen to raise a toast with all the guests. No sooner said than done: at 10.30 pm, 50 members of the waiting staff carried all the flutes into the ballroom and a toast was raised with everyone present.

The wedding reception

After that, the party really got into full swing with performances by various well-known Moroccan artists. There were fireworks, dancers and, of course, the wedding dance, during which the classic lift from ‘Time of My Life’ was performed flawlessly:

Especially for this party, we put together an extensive, bespoke cocktail menu featuring lots of sweet cocktails, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. The Pornstar Martini was one of the favourites that evening. As is almost always the case, the cocktails went down a treat. It was a special party that lasted well into the night (03.00), and I’m glad I was part of it. All that remained was to pack up and make our way back to Nijmegen.
